DOVER Athletic will make up one of the two games in hand they have on Ryman League Division 1 leaders Tonbridge Angels against Banstead Athletic on Saturday.
A victory could take Clive Walker's side top if other results go their way, but he is taking nothing for granted against the side currently sitting third from bottom of the league.
He said: "You never know what's going to happen in this league from one week to the next. Who would have thought that Newport IOW would have won at Hastings on Saturday after the way Hastings played against us?
"It's all down to the mentality of the players (at this level) and trying to get them to produce consistent performances. As far as I'm concerned, Banstead will be a tough game, but one that we need to win."
Craig Wilkins and Anthony Hogg will return on Saturday along with Paul Hyde in goal. Walker is also hoping that Danny Chapman will also be able to take some part after missing the last four matches through a knee injury.
Chatham Town are putting their faith in the strike partnership of top scorer Brendon Cass and Rob Denness to shoot them back to prominence at the top of Southern League Division 1 East.
The two resumed up front in last week’s 3-2 home victory over Great Wakering after Denness received the all-clear to play following a fractured wrist. He celebrated his return with his team’s second goal.
He had the plaster cast removed this week and Chats manager Steve Binks is banking on him to carry on scoring when Wivenhoe visit Maidstone Road on Saturday.
Binks said: "Now Rob’s fully fit I hope he and Brendon will get back into the habit of scoring regularly, which is what they were doing before the injury."
Thirteen-goal Cass, the league’s second-highest scorer, will start up front against Wivenhoe even though he finished in midfield against Great Wakering.
Chats will be looking to improve on an impressive home record of six straight wins but Binks knows the outcome is no foregone conclusion.
He explained: "Wivenhoe are unbeaten in their last six games and are not leaking goals. They were in the top six for most of last season and will be extremely difficult to overcome."
Midfielder Steve Searle remains out of contention for a further three weeks with an ankle injury, while Byron Walker is ill.
