FOLKESTONE Invicta earned a battling point at Ryman League Premier Division high-flyers Fisher Athletic on Saturday.

Fisher dominated the first half and the visitors had keeper Tony Kessel to thank for a couple of superb saves to keep the scores level.

But Neil Cugley’s side were much-improved after the break and fully deserved their point and the honour of being the first visiting team to keep a clean sheet at Champion Hill this season.

Bromley had to settle for a point after conceding an 89th-minute equaliser against Staines Town at Hayes Lane.

Adrian Stone had given the home side the lead in the 25th minute but Staines’ Fiston Manuella had the last word.

The visitors had Jamie Guy dismissed deep into stoppage time.

Dover Athletic went ahead of previous Ryman League Division 1 leaders Tonbridge Angels after an emphatic 5-1 win against Lymington & New Milton at Crabble.

Whites led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals by Nick Humphrey and Walid Matata and a further three goals in the second half, including a brace from Carl Rook, overpowered the visitors.

Tonbridge Angels suffered a surprising 4-1 defeat at the hands of Leatherhead.

Ashford Town were celebrating after winning 1-0 against Burgess Hill Town at Homelands, despite having their goalkeeper Sean Glover sent off after half an hour.

Town showed their battling character and won the game thanks to Shaun Bradshaw’s 66th-minute strike.

Cray Wanderers scored a late equaliser to claim a point in a 3-3 draw at Whyteleafe. The draw ends a run of six straight league defeats from Cray.

It was a poor day for Kent’s Southern League Division 1 East sides, who all took nothing away from away fixtures.
