Saturday football round-up

ALL the Kent sides in the Ryman League Premier Division recorded draws on Saturday.

Bromley scored a 10th minute equaliser against East Thurrock United at Hayes Lane after Shaun Batt had given the visitors the lead after just 39 seconds.

Walid Matata earned Folkestone Invicta a share of the points after 62 minutes in their match at Leyton. Leli Vajada earlier won and converted a 32nd minute penalty for the home side.

Chris Kinnear's Margate played out a goalless draw against Harrow Borough at Hartsdown Park.

In Ryman League Division 1, Ramsgate kept their title hopes very much alive with a win at Whyteleafe. Shaun Welford scored the only goal in the second half.

Dover Athletic, who have several games in hand on the teams above them, kept in touch with the title contenders with a 2-1 win over Bashley at Crabble. Clive Walker's side came from behind with two goals in five second half minutes from Tommy Tyne and Buster Smissen to take the points.

Matt Woolfe's second half goal was enough for Cray Wanderers to record a victory in their trip to Walton Casuals, while Tonbridge Angels also won 2-0 and now have the chance to go top of the table next week.

Meanwhile, Mark Cumberbatch scored his first goal for Ashford Town in his first game since rejoining the club from Dover to earn the side a 1-1 draw at Newport IOW.

In Southern League Division 1 East, Sittingbourne came from behind to beat Arlesey Town 3-1 with goals from Paul Aimsworth, James Campbell and Bradley Spice.

Dartford also earned three points as goals from Steve Hefner and Brendon Cass gave them a 2-1 win over Barton Rovers at Stonebridge Road.

But Chatham Town had to settle for a draw after conceding a last minute equaliser to Potters Bar United.

Rob Denness gave Chats a 33rd minute lead and Steve Binks's side looked to be heading for a win before Richard Howard claimed a dramatic point.
