Saturday football round-up

Dartford were celebrating on Saturday after clinching the Ryman League Division 1 North title.

The Darts were beaten 2-1 at Edgware Town, but a defeat for AFC Sudbury elsewhere meant the league was wrapped up.

Tony Burman's side took the lead on 24 minutes when Junior Kadi's free kick was knocked down by Brendan Cass and Jay May fired home.

But Edgware levelled when Greg Ngoyi beate John Guest and then keeper Tony Kessel from a narrow angle and the winner came in injury-time - a 20-yard strike by Denis Maharjan.

Folkestone Invicta gave themselves a boost in their quest to stay in the Ryman League Premier Divison in an extraordinary Kent derby at Margate.

Four goals by the outstanding Leigh Bremner saw the Folks recover from being 3-1 down to clinch a 5-4 victory.

Jimmy Corbett got the other Invicta goal, while Rob Haworth grabbed a treble for Margate and Jay Saunders also netted.

Maidstone suffered a disastrous home defeat at the hands of Heybridge Swifts, setting up a likely final day relegation decider against Folkestone. Read the match report >>>

Tonbridge Angels remain in play-off contention after a 1-1 draw with AFC Hornchurch at Longmead.

Michael Phillips gave the Angels a 27th-minute lead with a blistering 25-yarder but Dean Green's header on the stroke of half-time snatched a point for the visitors.

Ramsgate are also still in the hunt for a play-off spot after a 3-2 win at Hastings.

Jim Ward's side went ahead on 40 minutes when Lenny Piper set up Warren Shulz. But Sam Adams levelled from the spot in the 54th minute after a Sam Jones handball before Hastings went in front seven minutes later through Ade Olorunda.

Substitute Stuart King fired home a free kick to equalise once more and the winner came 10 minutes from time when King netted his second set piece.

Cray Wanderers moved level on points with second-placed Tooting & Mitcham as quick-fire goals from Lewis Wood (35), Tommy Whitnell (40) and Jamie Wood (45) earned them a 3-0 success over Burgess Hill Town at Hayes Lane.

Champions Dover Athletic are no longer able to break the 100-point barrier after they lost 2-0 at home to Kent rivals Sittingbourne at Crabble.

Hicham Akhazzan put the Brickies in front on 13 minutes when he capitalised on a rare John Whitehouse mistake and substitute Richard Brady made the points safe in the 89th minute from the penalty spot after he had been brought in the box.

It could have been different had Chris Lewington not saved Frannie Collin's spot-kick two minutes before the break after a Lee Spiller handball.

Sittingbourne were reduced to 10 men in the 75th minute after Spiller was shown a second yellow card.

Ashford Town recorded a comfortable 4-0 victory thanks to goals by Andy Doerr before the break and then second half strikes from Anthony Hogg, Paul Jones and Danny Lye.

Chatham Town also took maximum points from their clash with Horsham YMCA at Maidstone Road.

The visitors took an early lead through Richard Greenfield but Dave Botterill's left-foot shot from the edge of the box had the home side level before the break.

Darren Smith put Chats ahead nine minutes into the second half when he latched onto Steve Hafner's.

Greenfield's second of the afternoon restored parity three minutes later but just two minutes after that Hafner caught the Horsham YMCA keeper out with a free kick from only just inside the attacking half to complete the scoring.

Finally, Whitstable Town travelled back from Croydon Athletic with the points after a 2-1 victory.

The home side were reduced to 10 men after just 15 minutes when Adam Greenway was dismissed for violent conduct.

The Oysterman took full advantage and David Cory netted from the penalty spot after a foul on Marcus Perona on 20 minutes before Liam Quinn's header doubled the lead seven minutes after the break.

Moses Ademola pulled one back for Croydon 10 minutes from time but it was too little, too late.
