GILLINGHAM chairman Paul Scally has backed Mark Stimson to turn things around, even if the club are relegated.
Mr Scally remains firmly behind his manager as the club face a fight for League 1 survival.
He said: “There’s nobody to blame for this situation. I’m delighted with the way Mark is going about his job.
“Some of the players may need to take a hard look at themselves in the mirror.
“When Mark gets a fairly clean run without all of the politics and aggravation that goes on then the best of what he’s got to offer will come out.
“There’s a lot of issues that go on. The manager has had an horrendous job to do and he doesn’t need all this rubbish Conference manager and player talk.
“He’s played at the top level and probably had more games at that level than those people have had hot dinners. It’s a complete lack of understanding and ignorance.
“You have to look at the bigger picture. Ultimately if we don’t survive then we’ll deal with it.
“It won’t be the end of the football club and if won’t be the end of the world. Mark is building a club which will be stronger.”
