Scally in fresh talks over bonuses

GILLINGHAM players are scheduled to meet chairman Paul Scally tomorrow in an effort to resolve the thorny question of money owed in bonuses from last season.

A number of players have intimated they will accept pay cuts in return for contract extensions.

Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler said: “Stories concerning our bonuses have been blown out of all proportion. The players have agreed to work with the chairman to reach an agreement because money is so tight.

"I’m not getting involved with the discussions even though it does affect me as a player. I've got too much on my plate and I've left everything to Mark Patterson, our Professional Footballers’ Association representative.”
