GILLINGHAM chairman Paul Scally has denied making an offer for Peterborough striker Calum Willock despite the claims of Barry Fry.
Peterborough boss Fry said both Gillingham and Sheffield United have bid £150,000 for the 23-year-old, who has scored 17 goals in 37 games for Peterborough.
Fry believes the player's value to be nearer to the £500,000 mark and said Peterborough would hold out for more money.
He said: "Gillingham have made an offer but it's way, way short of our valuation. Three other clubs are also interested."
"Paul Scally rang me last week and again on Tuesday this week to discuss Calum. He knows the asking price but whether we sell or not is another matter because if Calum goes it will send all the wrong vibes to our supporters, who will think we've accepted relegation and are ready to sell our best players."
But Paul Scally dismissed reports of Gillingham's offer for Willock, saying: "We won't be increasing our bid because we haven't made a bid. That's just not true."
Willock cost Peterborough £25,000 two years when he moved from Fulham following loan spells at Queens Park Rangers and Bristol Rovers.
Last season he scored 10 goals in 19 starts and he has represented St Kitts in World Cup qualifying ties.
