NYRON NOSWORTHY'S torn hamstring will see Gillingham face Burnley without a recognised right-back at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Nosworthy, who limped off early in Monday’s second-half against Crewe, will miss the rest of the season. And with Mark Patterson, the club’s only other recognised right-back also out for the remaining three games, player-manager Andy Hessenthaler has been confronted with a selection poser.
Mark Saunders, who switched to right-back on Monday, could retain the spot on Saturday. Alternatively, the Gills boss could recall Barry Ashby or Kevin James to fill the role.
With Burnley danger men Glen Little and Ian Moore expected to pose a big threat down the left flank, Hessenthaler knows that whoever plays there will have his hands full.
The Gills boss, who has been striken by a throat infection, was giving nothing away today but all the signs point to a change of tactics with the team lining up in a 4-5-1 formation.
With top scorer Marlon King rated no better than 50-50 with a hamstring strain, Iffy Onuora could carry the main thrust of the attack alone up front.
Burnley could welcome back influential skipper and defender Steve Davis, who has been troubled by a calf strain, while Little, always a threat against Gillingham, could start for the first time since suffering concussion against Norwich on March 2.
But key defender Ian Cox is ruled out by a hamstring strain.
