CHARLTON are expected to include out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Salif Diao in their squad for their next two pre-season friendlies.

The 29-year-old Senegal international linked up with the squad last night and is expected to play tonight at Hibernian and against Valencia on Saturday.

Diao spent periods on loan with Birmingham and Portsmouth after arriving on Merseyside from French club Sedan for £5million in August 2002.

Diao's agent Charles Collymore said: "Salif is having a trial with Charlton and will stay with the squad for their pre-season games against Hibernian and Valencia. We'll see what develops."
