Watford 0 Gillingham 1
ANDY Hessenthaler celebrated his 500th professional appearance in style as Gillingham beat his former club Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.
The Gills boss, who was presented with a framed shirt by Watford chairman Graham Simpson to mark the occasion before the start, was in mood to show the home side similar generosity.
After containing Watford for long periods, Gillingham caught them on the counter attack in the 66th minute.
Hessenthaler crossed, Chris Hope flicked the ball on and Paul Shaw finished from close range for his 11th goal of the season.
Gillingham were indebted to centre-back Nyron Nosworthy for a goalline clearance deep into second half stoppage time.
Attendance: 10,492.
