Bickley Park spinner Nayan Doshi produced a magnificent spell of bowling to send last week’s leaders Bexley crashing to defeat in the Shepherd Neame Kent League, Premier Division on Saturday.

The former Derbyshire and Surrey left-armer took 8-18 off 12 overs as Bexley, set a target of 236-8, collapsed from 43-1 to 103 all out. Earlier, skipper Chris Coulson top scored for Bickley with an unbeaten 51.

Bexley’s demise meant Hartley Country Club are back on top of the table thanks to their three-wicket win over Beckenham at Foxgrove Road.

Having elected to bat, Beckenham were unfortunate that their innings was interrupted by several passing heavy showers and, with Kent bowler Matt Coles claiming 6-36, the home side were dismissed for 182.

The rain also curtailed the length of the game, leaving Hartley some 55 minutes plus 20 overs to chase their target. A useful 46 from Sam Billings set them on the way and then man-of-the-match Coles made a hard-hitting 68 to carry Hartley home.

Lordswood moved up to fourth after their nine-wicket win over Sibton Park at Martyn Grove.

Only Andy Allon (65) passed the half century mark as the Lyminge side were bowled out for 157, with Dan Masters taking 4-40.

Then, with newcomer Zac Elkin making an unbeaten 68 and Chris Piesley finishing 56 not out, Lordswood romped home in the 40th over for the loss of just one wicket.

Blackheath had to settle for a winning draw at Whitstable.

After Blackheath elected to bat, Australian newcomer Aidan Blizzard set the tone with a lively 62 which was followed by a valuable 79 by Warren Lee and 48 from Jahid Ahmed as Blackheath totalled 270-9.

Half centuries from Liam Tegg, Ben Purcell and Dean Lewis offered Whitstable some hope but James Hands (4-65) mopped up their middle order and at the finish, the Whitstable last pair were hanging on for a draw.

The day’s other game between Bromley and Sevenoaks Vine produced an incomplete result because of rain.

Batting first, Bromley were bowled out for a modest 174 but the Vine were in trouble at 123-8 when the weather forced an early finish.
