Sheppey 11 Old Olavians 29

Sheppey's slim hopes of avoiding relegation from Kent 1 ended at the hands of Old Olavians on Saturday.

Dan Seager gave the Islanders a good start to put them 3-0 up with a penalty, and a second Seager kick, after Tom Weeks had gone over for the Old Boys, kept Sheppey in front.

Ed Wilson then crashed over the Sheppey line for a converted try to put Olavians 12-6 ahead before half-time, and James Seagram scored the first try of the second half with Ronnie Whelan converting to make increase the advantage.

Sheppey responded when a penalty was moved on 10m for dissent. A quick tap and go offered Sean Morgan the chance to crash over to make it 19-11, but that was as good as it got as Wilson and then Kid Foster added further scores.

Sheppey coach Frank Davis said: “We gave as good as we got a for much of the game, but they exposed our little weaknesses in certain areas which in the end makes all the difference.”

Sheppey: Dewis, Faulkner, Kelly, Morgan, Lamb, Nicholl, Thompson, Gilson, Kelly, Roach, Marsden, Adams, Crofskey, Ealy, Seager, Stanton, Baker, Cheesborough.
