Smith sets sights on midfielder's Wings return

WELLING player-manager Neil Smith has confirmed he is interested in bringing former Wings midfielder Anthony Riviere back to the club.

Riviere left the Wings three years ago to join Fisher and was employed full-time by the Blue Square South outfit last season.

But Fisher have released their entire first-team squad as they revert back to part-time status and Smith is keen to bring Riviere back to the club. He said: "I will be having a meeting with him."

Smith also confirmed his interest in defender Gary MacDonald, who has been released by his former club Woking.

Smith added: "There are a couple of Blue Square Premier sides interested in Gary so it's whether he wants to come out of full-time football."

Smith disclosed that defender Ben Lewis attended a meeting with the current squad on Thursday after denying reports he had joined Maidstone United.

Welling have also confirmed that a West Ham XI will visit for a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, August 1.
