GERARD GREEN begins the new snooker season as he takes part in the ToteSport Grand Prix in Preston starting on Saturday.

The Rainham player, now at his highest-ever career world ranking of 19, takes on Nigel Bond in the first round on Sunday. The match starts at 1pm.

Should Green progress, he takes on the winner of the Fergal O'Brien v Alan McManus match.
