EFE SODJE must decide this week whether to have surgery on his fractured eye socket.

The Gills defender was knocked unconscious after a clash of heads at Yeovil on November 18.

Sodje was taken to hospital following the incident and released the same evening, but a later scan revealed the seriousness of the injury.

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson admits he could lose Sodje for some time, but his only concern is the player’s long-term health.

Stimson said: “His spirits are quite high. He can’t be involved in training and we’ve told him to go away and make a decision because it’s a big one.

"We’re not going to put any pressure on him because it will effect him after football as well."
