West Ham 3 - Gillingham 1
GILLINGHAM have now gone nine games without a win after a terrible first half display at Upton Park and remain deep in the mire.
Bobby Zamora opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he powered past Nyron Nosworthy and blasted his shot into the corner.
Zamora turned provider nine minutes later when he fed Marlon Harewood who scored from close range.
Zamora also had a hand in the third when his shot was turned home by Hayden Mullins.
Darren Byfield got a consolation goal on the stroke of half time. But the striker was later carried off after clattering into the advertising hoardings. The injury led to the striker having 16 stitches in a knee wound.
Danny Spiller almost got Gills right back into the game in the 63rd minute but his close range shot smashed against the post and clear.
The returning Jason Brown produced a stunning stop from Harewood before Gills were reduced to 10 with the departure of Byfield.
Gills were the better team in the second half but it wasn't good enough.
Assistant manager John Gorman told KM-fm how the game could have been so different...
