Nicky Southall has been voted by Kent Messenger Group readers as Gillingham player of the month for October.
The midfielder has made a big impact since returning to the side following a loan move to Ryman League Premier Division side Dover.
Southall, who has now made 343 appearances for the club, has slotted into the right midfield role in Mark Stimson’s side and helped them to a number of important results in October. He was also on the scoresheet with the second goal in the draw against Notts County.
He was the clear winner with over a third of the votes and managed to beat top scorer Simeon Jackson for the award. Jackson finished second in the poll ahead of last month’s winner, Barry Fuller.
Southall said: “After coming back into the side last month it was very humbling for me to get the award, especially as I’ve had such a good rapport with the fans over the years.
"For them to vote for me was much appreciated.”
Results: 1 Southall 37%, 2 Jackson 22%, 3 Fuller 17%, 4 Weston 11%, 5 Barcham 8%, 6 Mulligan 5%.
