Kent Spitfires v Leicestershire Foxes
Weather permitting, Kent host their only floodlit match of the summer tonight when Leicestershire Foxes provide the opposition at St Lawrence for a day-night NatWest Pro40 clash.
Having been victorious in their opening two Division 2 games against Warwickshire and Glamorgan, Spitfires will be hoping that the widely forecast heavy rain stays away allowing them to complete a winning hat-trick against a side they now rarely play because of the two-divisional system.
The Foxes started their 2008 campaign badly, losing three times and recording a tie, they lie next-to-bottom in the table with only one point to show from their opening four games.
Though he will be leading England Lions out at Grace Road in an ODI against South Africa on Thursday, Spitfires skipper Rob Key will play in the game in Canterbury, as should former Leicestershire player Darren Stevens, who seems likely to use the match as fitness Test on his suspect groin ahead of Saturday's Friends Provident Trophy final.
Justin Kemp (back spasms), Azhar Mahmood (knee) and Yasir Arafat (side strain) are all responding to treatment and will hope for a pre-Lord's run-out while Amjad Khan could also stake a late claim for Trophy final selection.
Kent boast a good record against the East Midlands' county in this form of cricket. The sides have met 40 times previously with Kent taking home 24 wins to Leicestershire's 14.
The match is scheduled for a 4.40pm start with an approximate finish time of 10.20pm. Admission is £15 for adults, £12 for senior and £8 juniors.
Because of Kent's involvement in this weekend's Friends Provident Trophy final with Essex at Lord's their NatWest Pro40 clash with Derbyshire, which was scheduled to be played this Sunday, will now be played at St Lawrence on Monday, August 18 starting at 1.45pm.
