KENT will resist the temptation to rest senior players for Sunday’s final and pretty much meaningless C&G Trophy game against Middlesex at Lord’s.
With Sussex having already claimed the final berth by winning the Southern Conference with a couple of games to go, neither Kent nor Middlesex have anything but pride to play for come this weekend.
However, with the 15-day Twenty20 campaign scheduled to start in Beckenham next Tuesday, Spitfires have good reason to find some good one-day form and will therefore select from a full-strength squad.
Following complaints over so many dead rubbers from the final two rounds of this season’s re-vamped trophy, the ECB have already moved to announce they will add a semi-final stage will be added to next season’s event.
That should ensured there will be more matches of value in 2007,with two teams vying to qualify from each conference.
Sunday’s clash in St John’s Wood starts at 10.45am.
