Surrey Lions v Kent Spitfires

KENT’S director of coaching Graham Ford hopes new signing Tyron Henderson will continue to make a big impact when Spitfires do battle with Surrey in tonight’s second Twenty20 Cup tie at The Oval.

Fresh from a match-winning display against Essex just hours after landing in England, Ford is backing Henderson to come up with the goods again in Kennington from 5.30pm tonight.

He said: "What you saw in Beckenham last night was really impressive I thought.

"To walk into a strange environment and play Twenty20 cricket for a new side is a huge ask, but the fact that he adapted as well as he did is really quite special.

"It is credit to him and to the rest of the lads who made him feel very welcome and backed him all the way.

"He is a genuine all-rounder, the quality is there and I like to think there’s plenty more to come from him and the rest of our players."

Surrey welcome back Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood after an ankle injury for the tie and also include all-rounder Tim Murtagh, the man who took six for 24 in last season’s corresponding game.

Kent will select from the same 13-man squad on duty in Beckenham.

Kent from: Dexter, Stevens, Hall, Tredwell, van Jaarsveld, Key, Walker, Henderson, O’Brien, Patel, Khan, Cook, Denly.

MARK PENNELL'S REPORT OF THE GAME WILL APPEAR HERE AT THE CLOSE OF PLAY.
