THERE has been a delay in the decision over whether or not to allow Charlton to extend the east stand at The Valley.

Greenwich Council was originally due to meet on Thursday to discuss the development plans, but that has now been postponed until June 30.

The delay is designed to enable councillors to visit the site of the proposed extension.

The club want to add a second tier and a new quadrant to the east stand, which will increase The Valley's capacity to above 30,000.

Meanwhile, defender Luke Young could be fast-tracked into the England team after his surprise call-up to the USA tour squad.

England face the USA in Chicago on Saturday and Young will have serious hopes of making his full debut in the absence of Manchester United full-back Gary Neville.

Young said: "I'm really going to have a go and hopefully I can do well enough to be part of future squads."

Other Addicks players included in their country's forthcoming World Cup qualification plans are defender Talal El Karkouri, goalkeeper Stephan Andersen, winger Dennis Rommedahl and forward Jonatan Johansson.
