GILLINGHAM fought their way to a hard earned point at Huddersfield. A battling display saw them keep the League 1 high-fliers at bay at the Galpharm Stadium.

Huddersfield had the majority of possession in the opening half and had numerous chances to take the lead, with Gary Taylor-Fletcher with the best of those, as he headed inches wide at the far post in first half stoppage time.

Gillingham's best chances came in the early stages of the half and should have netted on 16 minutes when Danny Spiller played Paul Shields through on the right, only for the Scotsman to blast over the bar with just the 'keeper to beat.

Town opened the second period again in charge and Pawel Abbot tested Jason Brown early on, with the Gills 'keeper saving well.

A rare Gills chance saw Neil Harris miss at the back post ten minutes after the re-start following Paul Shields' cross.

Town were subdued for long periods and only late on did they have any real sight of goal, with Danny Schofield shooting wide when clean through.

On 85 minutes Booth had a great chance to score but shot over with the goal at his mercy, after John McAliskey had challenge Brown and set a great chance up.

Gills manager Ronnie Jepson said afterwards that he thought a draw was a fair result.
