YOUNG golfer Emily Lloyd is on her way to La Manga, Spain in November to contest the YMG Masters grand final.
The talented seven-year-old, from Brook, near Ashford, has played golf since she was three and is a member at Great Chart Golf Club and at Cobtree Manor in Maidstone where mum Sarah is the lady captain this year.
Back in August this year she competed in, and won the regional heat of the YMG Masters which was held at Chelsfield Lakes, Orpington.
She was the only six to seven-year-old girl playing in her age group, but she managed to beat nine boys on her way to winning her place in the National Finals at the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.
The national final was held over the challenging Coldra Woods course and Emily beat nine other girls to earn her trip to Spain winning her age group.
Last year Emily qualified to compete in two National Finals – the Wee Wonders competition which was held at St Andrews and the YMG Masters in Wales. The YMG Masters is probably the largest National golf competition for youngsters aged five to 16.
She has lessons with Tony Bowers in Ashford and has been selected for county coaching.
