TOP television and football celebrities battled it out during a charity match held at Gillingham's Priestfield stadium in memory of legendary commentator Brian Moore.

ITV All Stars, featuring ex-Premiership players John Barnes, Andy Townsend and Tony Cascarino, took on the slightly more professional Gillingham Dream Team.

Star striker Les Ferdinand, of West Ham, was first the put the ball in the net for the Dream Team and set up the second, headed in by former Arsenal player Paul Davis.

Thousands of spectators piled through the gates filling up the Rainham End and Medway Stand.

Despite the star-studded line-up, the crowds were busy cheering on Gillingham's player-manager, Andy Hessenthaler.

By half-time, the Dream Team's boys in blue were 3-0 up, to the despair of the All Stars' manager, Ron Atkinson who said after 20 minutes he was planning a full team change at half-time.

Lawrie McMenemy, the Dream Team manager, said he was delighted to be facing his old sparring partner Ron once again.

Money raised from the event will go to Dave Lee's Happy Holidays which caters for sick, disabled and underprivileged children in Kent and Threshers Day Nursery.

To honour the popular commentator, who was also a Gillingham director between 1975 and 1985, Priestfield's new stand will be named the Brian Moore Stand.

The stand, costing £1,500,000, it will hold up to 3,200 supporters and also house toilet and food facilities.
