SINCE moving to Kent from his native Leicestershire Darren Stevens has won renown for stylish, attacking batting.
In his first year for his new county Stevens posted 1,000 runs in a season for the first time in his career, and though last season proved less fruitful for the right-hander, he still won admiration for his stand-and-deliver style of play.
After an eye-catching pre-season, Stevens appeared ready to take the county campaign by storm, yet somehow runs have eluded him.
His bleak run ended against Hampshire. Speaking after his hundred, Stevens said: "That was probably the hardest I've had to work for my runs since I joined Kent."
Stevens now hopes his championship century will spark an improvement in his one-day form.
He added: "The one-day form has been a bit disappointing for me. As the season's gone on it's been frustrating for me but it will also spur me on."
