Kent v Sussex
Kent will cross swords with near neighbours Sussex for the fourth time this season when the sides clash in the LV Championship match at St Lawrence from this morning.
Kent will hope to return to winning ways on home soil after their narrow 20-run defeat to surprise Championship leaders last time out in Tunbridge Wells.
Rob Key’s side will take confidence from their overall domination of the rain-ruined encounter with Hampshire at the Rose Bowl last weekend, when Amjad Khan made a welcome return to the side after 18-months on the sidelines.
The game was memorable for contrasting centuries, a patient 133 by Martin van Jaarsveld, and a swashbuckling 127 for Darren Stevens.
Dropped three times when on four, five and 51, Stevens blazed his way back to form with 13 fours and three sixes.
In looking forward to taking on Sussex, Stevens said: "All my hard work has paid off. I got a couple of good balls early on that luckily for me went to ground in the slips, but I kept on believing.
"Hampshire and Sussex seem to be my two lucky sides, I normally do well against them so I’m hoping to build on this form when they come to St Lawrence."
