EXPERIENCED middle order batsman Darren Stevens is out of Kent's final LV Championship match of the season against title-chasing Durham starting in Canterbury on Wednesday.
The Leicestershire-born right-hander has failed to shake off the abdominal strain that has hampered his play in recent weeks and will take no part in the county's last four days of the summer.
Better news for skipper Rob key is that his three other injury doubts, Ryan McLaren (fractured thumb), James Tredwell (swollen right knee) and Simon Cook (bruised knee) all came through fitness tests on Tuesday lunch time and will play.
Apart from wanting to avenge their last day collapse and defeat to Durham at the Riverside in May, Kent's players also have some individual targets to hit in this last game of the campaign.
Martin van Jaarsveld is only 29 short of his 1,000-run milestone for the summer while Joe Denly lies a little further back, needing another 132 to reach four figures in his first full season.
McLaren meanwhile, already far-and-away Kent's leading wicket-taker, requires nine more in the game for his 50 for the season.
Both teams will select from a squad of 13, and the game gets underway at 10.30am on each of the four days.
