Steward sacked after fans complain

GILLINGHAM have sacked a steward for his behaviour during an incident during the game against Ipswich at Priestfield.

A number of Gills fans complained about the steward’s actions towards them in the second half.

The club held an immediate inquiry into the allegations, dismissing the steward on the same day and issuing an apology to fans.

A spokesman said: "The club would like to apologise for any offence caused and condemns the actions of the individual concerned."

The problems started after one Gillingham supporter was ejected from the Rainham End for ignoring repeated requests to remain seated.
