Kent's Danielle Stewart has won a gold medal at the Duathlon World Championships.
The 26-year-old from Minster, Sheppey, is a world champion in the 25-29 age group.
She took part in the two-day event in Rimini, Italy.
It took her two hours and 18 minutes to complete a 10k run, a 40k bike ride and another 5k run.
Stewart took part in a triathlon in June, and after doing well in that qualified for the duathlon.
She said: “I thought I would give it a go as there’s no swimming involved – I’m working on my swimming.
“It was hard work. There were gale-force winds and it wasn’t quite the warm, sunny weather predicted.”
Stewart came ninth overall and was the second Brit home. There were about 30 people competing in her age group.
