GILLINGHAM manager Mark Stimson feels there is a lot more to come from the midfielder Stuart Lewis.
Lewis made his first full Gills debut in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Huddersfield, having previously made four substitute appearances.
“He did okay,” said Stimson. “I’ve worked with him before and I know what he can produce. He showed glimpses of that but possibly not enough from what I expect from him.
“It was his home debut and a hard one to come into, not a nice, pretty game. He rolled his sleeves up and towards the end he passed the ball sideways to Sean Clohessy where before I’ve seen him spank them in from 25 yards. That’s something he’ll get into his game. He’s got good energy and the more minutes he’ll play the fitter he’ll get.”
Making his debut for the Gills was Danny Cullip and Stimson is hoping the defender can have a big impact.
Stimson said: “He’s a no-nonsense defender and he enjoys those kind of battles and he’s helping the young players around him and hopefully they can become better players.
“What we have to remember is that he’s only 31. We’ve got a lot of players in this squad who are a lot older than him who can still play and there’s no reason why he can’t.”
