Mark Stimson is unlikely to have signed a new striker by Saturday but the search for fresh attacking talent goes on.

The Gillingham manager has been searching high and low for a fourth striker to complement Simeon Jackson, Gary Mulligan and Mark McCammon.

Recent trialists include experienced Trevor Benjamin and Canadian Marcus Haber as he searches high and low for additional firepower.

Stimson said: “We probably won’t do anything before Saurday but if someone rings me and someone pops out of the blue and you think they may be worth taking then we’ll do that. You can never say no.

“I’m someone who has been used to scoring truck loads of goals.

“That’s what we want to do and if you do that you entertain. If you entertain you get more people through the turnstiles and you win more matches than you lose.”
