Gillingham manager Mark Stimson is expecting a quiet end to the transfer window which shuts on Monday at 5pm.
By the weekend, Stimson had still had no firm enquiries for star striker Simeon Jackson and he expects to end the season with the same squad which picked up another win on the road at Chester on Saturday.
“I’ve not had one phone call for Jacko not one phone call whatsoever,” said Stimson. “We discussed (with the chairman) what would happen if someone did come in for him and I said I didn’t want to get rid of him because he’s a goalscorer.
“To get up to the top of any division you’re going to need someone to get you goals - that’s priceless.
“I would be surprised if someone came in for him now. I told the chairman I don’t want him to go anywhere because if we’re going to get into the play-offs or automatic positions, we need people like that to put the ball in the net.”
Stimson has made approaches for several players during the transfer window but doesn’t expect anyone to come into the club either.
He added: "That’s it for us. We’ve tried one or two options but it just hasn’t happened. We just look forward to the rest of the season with the players we’ve got.”
