Manager Mark Stimson remains confident Gillingham can avoid relegation.
The Gills suffered a double blow as their 2-1 defeat to Swansea and wins for their main relegation rivals leaves them needing at least two wins from their last three games.
But Stimson said: “I think we’ve got a very good chance because of the quality of players we’ve got. What we’ve got to do is keep that belief until it’s mathematically impossible to stay up and until that day comes, we won’t do anything different.
“When you don’t win, the next thing you do is look at those above you and hope they have both not won but they did.
“It’s made it a lot harder than it was before Saturday’s game but there are three games left and nine points.
“How many can we take? We’re going to try and get the nine and that will be more than enough. We’ll go to Bristol Rovers next week positive and hopefully come back with something.”
