GILLINGHAM manager Mark Stimson admitted the club may be unable afford Forest Green's prolific striker Stuart Fleetwood.

The 21-year-old is Stimson's top transfer target but Blue Square Conference side Forest Green will be asking big money for the 30-goal striker.

Stimson said: "We would like him to join us but it's going to be difficult because at the moment their price is probably out of our range."

Gillingham are believed to have made two bids but they face competition from a number of clubs chasing the Welshman.
