Gillingham boss Mark Stimson is hoping for a quiet few days before the January transfer window closes on Monday.

Stimson knows striker Simeon Jackson is attracting plenty of interest and scouts from Aston Villa were in attendance during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Exeter.

Jackson has struck 14 goals so far this season and Stimson said: “We want the window to shut and keep the group of players we’ve got because we’ve been on a good run.

“I’ve had a good chat with the chairman and we don’t want to sell anyone for any money because we want to try and take the club forward.”

Stimson also revealed the difficulties in attracting players.

He added: “There are finances and loads of things that have to be met.

“It’s not for the want of trying. It’s just trying to match everything up.”
