MARK STIMSON wants to add more experience to his squad when the transfer window opens in January.
The Gillingham manager has so far turned to a mixture of youth and non-league acquisitions to turn the club's fortunes around but admits he will also need some more experience.
Stimson said: "You can't have 11 youngsters running around which is why you need a bit of experience. We've got great experience in the goal but sometimes you need experience in the outfield to help the younger ones.
"That's an area we might look at in the transfer window and maybe one or two experienced guys could come and settle the ship a bit and get it in the right direction."
The blend between youth and experience will be vital for Stimson. He hasn't been afraid to pluck players from the youth set-up and admits more may still follow.
He said: "One or two look as though they can adapt and be an influence around the first team and that's encouraging."
