Doncaster v Gillingham

GILLINGHAM manager Mark Stimson says his side must repay the faith of their supporters when they travel to Doncaster tonight.

The Gills are in desperate need of a win to stave off the threat of relegation from League 1 and Stimson admitted that the players owe the fans a performance.

Stimson said: “The vocal support from the fans against Hartlepool was first class.

“I said to the players to think about them going home on the bus and how they feel.

“We’ve put them in that position so on Tuesday night we owe them something. It’s a long way so I just hope that whoever travels up, we can give them something cheerful to go home with on Wednesday morning.

“After that we go into two very critical home games and that’s when the nerves really will be tested."

Midfielder Kevin Maher will make his second Gills start after his debut at Hartlepool.

Goalkeeper Simon Royce was absent through illness for the second successive game so could come into contention if he is well enough to return.

Sean Clohessy is available again after serving a one-match ban for his red card at Brighton but defender Garry Richards is still ruled out after his appeal against a three-match suspension was rejected.
