CHARLTON were only able to take a point from their home match against fellow Premiership basement side Watford on Saturday.

The visitors could easily have won it but former Gillingham striker Darius Henderson shot woefully over with the goal at his mercy nine minutes into the second half.

Tommy Smith also blazed a volley just wide of Scott Carson's post late on.

But it would have been harsh on the Addicks who enjoyed the lion's share of the possession.

Dennis Rommedahl looked nervous in front of goal early on and took far too long to get a shot in when well placed, allowing Watford to clear.

Darren Bent should have done better when he scuffed an effort wide of Ben Foster's goal and then the Watford keeper twice denied Andy Reid.

Charlton felt they were denied a legitimate penalty when Jordan Stewart tangled with Amdy Faye in the box, but the referee thought otherwise.

The home fans showed their dissatisfaction at the final whistle and the Addicks remain bottom of the table.

Charlton: Carson, Young, Diawara, El Karkouri, Hreidarsson, Rommedahl, Faye, Holland, Reid, Thomas (Hasselbaink 77), D Bent.
Subs not used: Myhre, Kishishev, Hughes, M Bent.
