Tranmere 1 - 1 Gillingham

A SUPERB Darren Byfield free kick equalised an early Tranmere goal to send the sides in level at the break at Prenton Park.

The visitors suffered an early double blow when first Paul Shields was forced off with an injury and then they went behind to a Michael Jackson header on 10 minutes.

But just five minutes later Byfield showed his class with a sublime set piece from just outside the D.

Gillingham are unlucky not to be ahead at the break after Byfield rattled the crossbar with another free kick in the 40th minute.
