STRIKER Paul Shaw bagged a hat-trick as injury-hit Gillingham brushed a side their non-league neighbours from across the Dartford Bridge.

Gills, who had triallists David Garney and David Brickell in the side, took the lead through Shaw in the 19th minute after great work from Danny Spiller and Nyron Nosworthy.

Summer signing John Hills doubled the advantage with a deflected shot shorthly after before another new face Ian Cox slammed home Barry Ashby's goalbound header. to make it 3-0.

Nosworthy continued his impressive form in front of goal when added the fourth just before the break with a thunderous drive.

Shaw converted Jones Awuah's pass for his second and Gillingham's fifth just after the restart and Hills made it six from the penalty spot after Awuah had been hauled down in the box.

Shaw completed his hat-trick nine minutes from time when Awauh's chip over the keeper came back off the bar and Shaw was on hand to tap the ball into the empty net.

Gillingham will face Dover in their final pre-season friendly at the Brabble on Sunday.
