Takaloo: I'd like title defence on home soil

BOXER Takaloo says he wants the first defence of his world title to be in Kent, and preferably in Thanet.

The Margate-based fighter regained the WBU world light-middleweight title last weekend when he stopped Dubliner Jim Rock in the ninth round at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast.

Takaloo plans to make his first defence in a couple of months’ time and says it would great if he could bring big-time boxing to east Kent.

Takaloo said: “I’ve had enough of fighting in everyone else’s back yard and it would be terrific for the area if we could stage a fight in Thanet.

“We would have to find somewhere capable of holding two to three thousand people but if we could get a fight on and stage it successfully it might open the door for other fights.”

Takaloo said ideally he would like to use either the Hartsdown Park or Ramsgate leisure centre, but if those proved unsuitable he would look elsewhere in the county."
