TAKALOO is considering his future this week after suffering a disappointing seventh-round stoppage by Anthony Small in the Southern Area light middleweight title fight at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The 32-year-old former two-time world champion from Margate was floored three times on Saturday before referee Ritchie Davis halted the fight

Takaloo was cut over his left eye as early as the third round, and was then floored by Small’s sharp left hook. Three left hands in a row put him down in the fourth, and he was on the canvas again, when Small connected with a big right-hander three rounds later, with the end coming soon afterwards.

Takaloo said: "I want to sit down with family and friends and think about my future, and see if my desire comes back."

The father of three girls who are aged between 18 months and five years, added: "I have had a great career, and one hell of a time.

"There have ups and down, and highs and lows, and this is a low.

"Only one per cent of boxers have achieved what I have in the sport.

He added: "I felt I prepared properly for the fight, doing the right things, and gave up my Christmas to prepare. My commitment was second to none."

Takaloo plans to talk to promoter Frank Warren about the future, but vowed not to make any quick decisions about his future.

The Iranian-born Brit turned pro in 1997, and began with a first round knock-out against Harry Butler. His career really took off when he beat Jim Rock for the WBU light middleweight title in February 2003.
