KENT boxer Takaloo will be stepping into the unknown when he faces Ukrainian Wladimir Borovski at the Newport Centre, in Gwent, South Wales, on Saturday.
The Margate fighter will not be putting his WBU light-middleweight title on the line during the 10-round fight which is being shown live on Sky Sports 1.
Instead, he will be using the bout to test his right hand - which he damaged against Jose Rosa in May - ahead of his next title defence, which is expected to be in October or November.
Takaloo is confident of overcoming Borovski, who has a 14-5 record but is taking nothing for granted. He said: "Going by the book it shouldn't be a problem but I don't know much about him.
"He has got a decent record and has only been stopped once. He's boxed in France a couple of times but mostly in Belgium and it has not been easy getting tapes of his fights.
"We have tried finding bits out but no-one knows a lot about him. You never know with these imports, they can be either very tasty or rubbish."
Takaloo is happy with the way his injured hand has held up during sparring sessions ahead of the fight.
He said: "In training it has been perfect but I have been wearing big gloves for that. The good thing is that this is not a title fight, so we will be allowed to pad it out."
