Gills boss Peter Taylor ordered extra shooting practice after Monday’s FA Cup elimination.
Gillingham didn’t lack chances at non-league Brackley Town but a failure to convert proved costly.
With two home League 1 fixtures coming up, against Oldham on Saturday and Stevenage on Tuesday night, Taylor doesn’t want the same thing to happen again.
He said: “We got a lot of crosses in and maybe that is something we have to talk about and improve the end product.
“Maybe some of them could have been in different positions to give us more of a chance to finish and then you have your end product.
“All of our play was good, from the goalkeeper to the back four, to the midfield three and the wingers it was good. All of a sudden we got the cross in and there was no end product. That is something we have to improve.
“I have been happy with the last two performances, against Sheffield United and Brackley. The game before, Brackley at home, that was a disappointing one but the players have bounced back and shown good character.
“We have to do that again on Saturday. We have a big league match coming up against Oldham and we have to bounce back. If we take the way we played (from Monday) on to the pitch on Saturday, then we will have a good chance."
