THE West Kent branch of the Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers starts a new, 10-week course on Tuesday, January 28 at The Imperial public house, High Street, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells, at 7.30pm.

Anyone interested in cricket can attend, but the main object of the course is to improve the standard of umpiring at club level.

At the end of the course candidates will be given the opportunity to sit the association’s first level umpiring examination.

The course, which is open to males and females, costs £20 each but in addition candidates will require a copy of Tom Smith's Cricket Umpiring and Scoring, copies of which will available for purchase.
