MANCHESTER United players could be loaned out to Gillingham - thanks to new boss Stan Ternent’s old boys network.

After two games in charge Ternent is happy with his players. But he is hoping that some of his old friends may give him a helping hand in the transfer market.

He said: “The players have been excellent since I've been here and they have been trying very hard. I was more than pleased with them on Saturday because Rotherham made it very difficult and I thought we thoroughly deserved to win the game.

“If we can get some wins, that will do more for their confidence and they will realise they are capable of winning games on a regular basis.

He added: “Alex Ferguson is a friend but one of the problems is that he has to name a squad of players for Europe and if they’re loaned out they’re null and void.

“So we would be looking at pretty young players but certainly if he could help me I know he would.”
