We’ve been dealt a few injury blows this week, but for others that should be seen as an opportunity.

Both John Mousinho and Elliott Hewitt have been good additions to the squad, bringing plenty of energy, but we’ve got a few midfielders that probably think they deserve a go.

They have been waiting patiently and they are ready to go.

It’s now time for others to show what they can do and try to stake their claim in the team.

One player who got his chance last week was Jake Hessenthaler, who made his league debut after coming on in the second half.

He will never get to make his debut again, that’s it, he’s made it and it’s a fantastic occasion for him.

I would imagine he would have liked to have gone on under better circumstances but when he went on, he acquitted himself well, he was neat and tidy with the ball and it was a good atmosphere to play in front of. He will have learned a lot from it.

As always, it is good to see young players coming through the system at your football club, that’s what all the hours of coaching are for.
