We had to be bold and brave at Swindon and it paid off.
We had excellent support from the fans and made changes to go and get back in the game.
We went with three up front and it was great to see Cody McDonald score to make it 2-2.
Those players again showed they could adapt, after we had levelled, as we stifled Swindon again and had chances ourselves at the end.
Bringing on an extra striker can be a gamble but ever since we have been at the football club, we’ve said ‘let’s push on and get back into the game’. If you lose 3-1 as opposed to 2-1, then so be it.
As we showed, on Saturday it gives you half a chance of getting something out of the game.
If the game had gone on longer we might have got a little bit more out of it.
Apart from picking the three points up, which would have been fantastic, getting a point and the way we did it was superb. We showed great character and I thought the lads acquitted themselves fantastically well.
We got in people’s faces again, we kept the ball well at times and had chances. The character to come from behind twice said it all.
It was a good step forward for us. We know we’re going to have to be on top of our game again on Saturday.
We need to play our way well and if we do that, we won’t be too far away when it comes to winning games and picking up points.
Our performances have become more consistent and we have seen our game-winning opportunities coming to the forefront.
The Capital One Cup defeat against Bristol City is still quite fresh in the mind. In that game we made a few changes and both teams are potentially going to line up differently. It is another good test.
