Stuart Nelson showed again on Tuesday night all the attributes of a top modern day keeper.
His long throw out created the opening goal against Notts County and we’ve seen him set up numerous attacks since he’s been with us. Those attacks have often resulted in goals.
As a keeper nowadays, it’s not just about making saves, it’s about your distribution. It’s about the whole package and Nels has that in his armoury.
His throws are long, but also accurate, and his passing with his feet is also great. And, of course, we’ve all seen him make great saves as well on a regular basis.
He helped us to a welcome win on Tuesday night against his - and my - former team.
Getting those three points, along with seeing some old friends, made for an enjoyable evening,
We’ll be going for another win on Saturday against a Port Vale side who showed in the week just how unpredictable this division is.
Vale had lost a few games going into a match against a Crawley side on a good run, but they won 3-0 and that just shows that, on their day, everybody is capable of winning.
