It’s been a hectic summer but I can’t wait for the weekend.

The lads have been counting down the days.

It was weird coming back to training in July with so many new faces around but it’s been good getting to know everyone.

I played most of pre-season but missed the Welling game as my missus went into hospital, to give birth.

We now have a beautiful baby boy, who we’ve called Febian. I’m hoping he becomes a footballer but he’s not got a football yet.

I’m a Chelsea supporter so I may have to get him some Chelsea gear, although when he makes his first visit to Priestfield, I’ll make sure it’s in the blue of Gillingham.

We still managed to get in a couple of holidays before the baby arrived, with a trip to Turkey and a nice relaxing holiday in Marrakech.

I managed to avoid bringing home a carpet but the missus did get herself some Henna tattoos and I saw a few snake charmers. It was important to get a bit of relaxation before the baby arrived and the season started.

We had a four-day training camp in Colchester and that was ideal for me, as with the missus being pregnant, I didn’t want to be abroad somewhere, just in case.

It was good to get everyone together and we soon bonded over lunch and training and with sharing rooms.

There was a little bit of time for relaxation and some of the lads played golf but that’s not for me. I’ve tried it and just don’t have the patience. Four hours walking around just isn’t for me.

I made an appearance on TV during the summer, on the Chrissy B Show, which is on Sky.

I am an ambassador for the children’s charity Young Epilepsy and went on to
talk about the subject.

I am a sufferer myself. It was good fun but they tried to get me wearing make-up before going on screen.

I was having none of that. I made sure I had a haircut and that was enough.
I was a bit nervous to start with but once the cameras started to roll, I realised I had nothing to worry about.
